Though Salma Hayek and Princess Diana might have rejected his advances, former US president Donald Trump has been romantically linked to a number of women before he tied the knot with Melania. (Besides his ex-wives Marla Maples and Ivana, that is.)

The late Anna Nicole Smith is rumoured to have dated him in the 1990s while former French first lady Carla Bruni denied that they dated in 1991, insisting that she only met him once at a party.

Before she dazzled us on screen in films Miss Congeniality and Sex and the City, Emmy award-winning actress Candice Bergen went on a date with Trump. She opened up about the encounter – which happened in the 60s – to Andy Cohen on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, admitting that she didn’t fall for him.

“He was a good-looking guy – and a douche,” she shared about the dinner date, where Trump showed up in a three-piece burgundy suit to match his limousine.

The sportswoman: Gabriela Sabatini

Two decades later, Trump dated the tennis player Gabriela Sabatini. He was involved with Tiffany Trump’s mother Marla Maples at the time, but the pair were said to be on a break at some point in 1989 when he got together with the sports star. To make matters even more complicated, he was also still married to Ivana, the mother of Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric, when he dated Sabatini. When his one-month-long relationship with the Argentinian-born tennis player came to an end, Trump got back with actress-and-model Maples and later divorced Ivana.
