Twenty-six-year-old Alia Bhatt is one of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood. She has earned awards and rave reviews for her various film performances – but there is more to Bhatt than her acting career. Here are five fascinating facts about Alia Bhatt.

1. She is a great singer

Bhatt isn’t just a fantastic actress, she is also an amazing singer. Her playback singing for the track Sooha Saaha impressed film composer A.R. Rahman so much that he invited her to attend his school, the KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, to undergo further training. Her other well-known songs include Samjhawan and an alternative version of Ikk Kudi.

Bhatt has taken her vocal talents to the world, performing in a state show in Hong Kong and later visiting various cities in the United States as part of the Dream Team 2016 tour. She has also used her singing voice to raise funds to benefit flooding victims in her native India.

2. She is extremely concerned about animal welfare and the environment

 

When launching Coexist, a platform to highlight animal issues and ecological welfare, Bhatt began the initiative by releasing a green sea turtle back into the wild. She gave a passionate speech about the negative effects of discarded fishing nets and plastic waste on marine flora and fauna.

Working with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in 2013, she helped the organisation launch a campaign to raise awareness for animal adoption. She also partnered with Facebook Live Find Your Green environmental campaign one year later.
