A contemporary dance show, a Transformers animation and two free outdoor events are among our top five recommendations for things to do in Hong Kong this weekend.

1. Block Party By The Sea

Culture, creativity and community come together for “Block Party By The Sea” at the Avenue of Stars (after K11 Musea) in Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui district until September 29 between 2pm and 10.30pm.

On offer are gourmet delights, artisanal markets, live performances (jazz gigs, street-dance battles), as well as cultural workshops that celebrate the city’s diverse communities. Booths from 30 brands are there, offering everything from artisanal fragrances to mouth-watering street food.

A highlight is henna body painting and handmade crafts from Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam laid on by non-governmental organisation New Home Association. Cultural workshops include ones covering coffee brewing, sake tasting and skincare techniques.

2. A #FillYourCup Run/Walk/Talk Collective event

Spend Sunday September 22 helping to build awareness around mental health and support cancer sufferers and their carers, with a morning “filled with movement and meaningful conversations”. All are welcome, including dogs.
