An acting legend continues his transition to the small screen, while some of the television’s most notable rising names, including a Blackpink member, circle their next projects, in the latest Korean drama casting news.

1. Monthly Boyfriend

Actor Seo In-guk and Blackpink member Jisoo have received offers to appear in the coming romantic comedy Monthly Boyfriend.

The story will feature a virtual world where people can subscribe to romantic partners online, and those virtual connections can continue into the real world.

Best known as one-quarter of the global K-pop sensation Blackpink, Jisoo has increasingly been getting her toes wet in the drama industry of late, having appeared in shows such as Arthdal Chronicles and Snowdrop.

She is also due to appear in the coming zombie drama Newtopia alongside Park Jung-min.

Seo’s recent dramas include Doom at Your Service, Cafe Minamdang and the fantasy action-horror Death’s Game.

The series will be helmed by Kim Jung-sik, who is responsible for the currently airing drama No Gain No Love with Shin Min-a and Kim Young-dae. He is also attached to the forthcoming spin-off series Spice Up Our Love.
