The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family and friends, showing appreciation to your loved ones – and mooncakes. Businesses often use the occasion to show their gratitude to their clients by giving them boxes of the seasonal treats.
Here is our selection of the best early bird deals in Hong Kong for the 2024 festival.
1. Duddell’s
The Duddell’s x Saicho gift box is priced at HK$520 (US$67), and includes six lava custard mooncakes and a 750ml bottle of Saicho’s jasmine sparkling tea.
The floral notes of the tea helps balance the rich, sweet mooncakes. Pay only HK$498 by pre-ordering before August 25 on Duddell’s dedicated mooncake website.

2. China Tang
China Tang’s “Pavilion Prestige Mooncake Collection” features two varieties: white lotus seed paste with double egg yolks, and mini crafted egg custard.
Buy them for HK$388 for the lotus seed ones and HK$358 for the custard ones by pre-ordering before August 26 on the China Tang website.

3. Spring Moon and Peninsula Boutique
The Peninsula Hong Kong Chinese restaurant Spring Moon is once again offering its famous mini egg custard mooncakes. This year, there is also a sesame paste mochi mooncake.
Pay HK$668 for a box of the egg custard ones and HK$688 for a box of sesame paste mochi mooncakes by pre-ordering before August 26 on The Peninsula’s website.
At The Peninsula Boutique, choose from mini egg custard, lotus seed paste, tea, red bean paste with mandarin peel and – online only – chocolate mooncakes. Check them out at The Peninsula Boutique website.

4. Paul Lafayet
This year, Paul Lafayet has an artistic mooncake gift box that includes custard mooncakes in four flavours: crème brûlée, jasmine tea, low-sugar sesame and coffee lava.
Enjoy a discount of 35 per cent, which brings the price down to HK$348, by placing your order before August 31 at any of its Hong Kong boutiques or online. Buy 10 boxes to receive a complimentary crème brûlée tart.

5. Veggie Kingdom
Veggie Kingdom is selling a plant-based alternative – traditional mooncakes are made with lard – with its vegetarian snow-skin mooncakes.
These come with three fillings: tokachi red bean, matcha, and Musang King durian. Prices start at HK$338, but enjoy a discount of HK$100 by ordering before August 24 on a Google Form linked in their Instagram bio.

6. Ying Jee Club
Under the direction of chefs Siu Hin-chi and Cheung Kin-ming, Ying Jee Club is bringing back its signature mini egg custard mooncakes – preservative-free and in a box of six – for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
Prices start at HK$338 per box when ordering from now until August 31. Orders can be placed in person, by phone on 2801 6882, WhatsApp on 5291 0503 or email at reservation@yingjeeclub.hk.

7. Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong
Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong’s mooncake gift boxes feature all of its signature flavours – plus one new one. The box set of six (HK$588) features white lotus seed paste mooncakes with salted egg yolk, mini egg custard ones, and the new mini red bean paste with mandarin peel flavour.
Enjoy up to 35 per cent off with savings on bulk orders placed before August 31 at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong e-shop.

8. Rùn
The two-Michelin-star restaurant inside The St. Regis Hong Kong hotel is presenting mooncake sets crafted by executive Chinese chef Hung Chi-kwong. The selection, sold in a sustainable gift box, includes traditional white lotus seed paste mooncakes with double egg yolks, mini red bean paste ones with mandarin peels, and mini lava custard mooncakes.
From now until August 16, prices start at HK$458 per box on the The St. Regis Hong Kong online shop.

9. Man Ho
One-Michelin-star Man Ho Chinese Restaurant, in the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, is selling freshly baked mooncakes. The mini mooncake selection (a box of four costs HK$188) contains mooncakes with four fillings: macadamia nuts and winter melon paste; taro paste; Yunnan ham, rose and red date paste; and tangerine peel and red bean paste.
There is also the mini assorted mooncake selection (HK$498) – six mooncakes flavoured with Jinhua ham and assorted nuts, dried tangerine peel and red bean paste, and dried figs and assorted nuts.
Classics such as lotus seed paste with ginger and double egg yolk mooncakes, and mini egg custard mooncakes, are also available.
Order via the JW Marriott shopping site before August 31 to get 15 per cent off, with a 10 per cent discount until September 17 thereafter.

10. One Harbour Road
The gift box of six (HK$468) from Grand Hyatt Hong Kong’s One Harbour Road includes a new white lotus paste with fermented bean curd and salted egg yolks flavour alongside its red bean paste with dried mandarin peel and egg custard with jasmine pearls tea mooncakes.
Get 15 per cent off by ordering before August 21 on the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong shopping site. Traditional flavours are also available.
