5 arts events in Hong Kong this weekend, August 30-September 1, including new art fair

A new art fair’s debut, the return of a book fair, and live performances for random museum visitors are among the treats for arts lovers

This weekend is one to take in all the art, from the new Art021 Hong Kong art fair and peripheral exhibitions to the annual Booked: Hong Kong Art Book Fair at Tai Kwun.

Here are five to check out before the week is done.

1. Art021 Hong Kong art fair

The Shanghai-based art fair operator is launching its first event in Hong Kong this week and it is spread across four venues.
A standard ticket (HK$300/US$38) includes access to the main art fair with 40 booths at auction house Phillips’ Asia headquarters at the West Kowloon Cultural District, as well as an art and music programme held at the Fringe Club in Central on Hong Kong Island (tickets here).
Separately, a number of art films will be screened at the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre in Admiralty, with standard tickets costing HK$50 each (tickets and listings here).

There is also a sculpture park at Victoria Park, in Causeway Bay, which is free, and one work installed on the Fringe Club’s roof (which can be seen from the street).
