According to the principles of fung shui, Hong Kong's landscape will exert a most favourable influence in the 20 years from February 2004 to 2024. Over that period, the fung shui should work well in cities that have mountains in the northeast and water in the southwest. That is why we have seen a lot of progress since February 2004 - 2003 was disastrous because it was the end of the previous 20-year cycle.
Since 2004, there have been big changes: hotels have been full and many visitors have come from the mainland. The timing is so accurate in terms of the fung shui. Progress is mostly in southwestern Hong Kong: Disneyland, the airport and the developments in West Kowloon. That is the force of nature: fung shui pulls the prosperity to those areas.
In this 20-year period we'd expect continued improvement in human harmony. It is amazing to see the changes since 2004: even criticism of the government, while still there, is not as severe as before. I think we will see continued progress in human harmony and, of course, our economy is prospering.
As for Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, he was born under the wood element, which needs the support of water. And we're now into a cycle of water years: 2007 is a year of the pig - which is governed by water - and 2008 is the year of the rat - also water.
