Film buyers descend on HK

Today is the start of the eighth annual Hong Kong Filmart. For three days, the best of Asia's film and television is on show to buyers from around the world at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In all, 300 companies from 25 countries are expected to attend and the crowd is likely to outdo last year's 2,200 buyers.

It kicks off at 10am with Hollywood director Robert Minkoff (Stuart Little 1 & 2) discussing how to better use digital technology in storytelling.

Actors Daniel Wu Yin-cho and Charlie Young Choi-nei will also make an appearance to promote the new release, New Police Story, produced by Jackie Chan's Entertainment company, JCE. And later on, at 5.30pm it is 'China Night' - with the screening of Running for Son.

Tony Leung Chiu-wai is this year's Hong Kong entertainment ambassador. The opening ceremony is at 3pm.

Acclaimed Asian films will also be screened throughout the day.
